About Wentworth Care Furniture

Wentworth Care Furniture was born from the heritage of Wentworth Furniture, a proudly Australian manufacturer that supplied leading retailers such as Snooze, Forty Winks, and Harvey Norman for over 40 years. While Wentworth Furniture closed in 2017, our commitment to Australian-made quality and care-driven design continues.

Today, Wentworth Care Furniture is a major supplier of high quality furniture to aged care and retirement homes and disability care providers.  Supplying furniture all across Australia, we work with clients to provide products specific to their needs.  Utilising local Australian manufacturers, furniture is produced using the highest quality materials and methods to ensure longevity, comfort and value for money.

We believe in cultivating a home, not just a room — and we’re here to help you create spaces that truly support wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life.

Product Care & Maintenance Guide

A piece of furniture from Wentworth Care Furniture is an investment into the future. With proper furniture care it can last the facility or home a long time. Regular cleaning and maintenance is recommended to extend the life of your furniture.

The Australian climate can be drastic, so it is always good to remember that the heat and sunlight can impact the furniture, especially interior fabrics. We recommend placing some distance from direct sunlight or heat sources to ensure your fabrics remain vibrate for years and years. However, our outdoor furniture ranges are designed to withstand the harsh Australian climate. We recommend wiping the surfaces of our fabrics regularly with a cloth.

For our bed ranges, we recommend cleaning the metal surfaces first before using a damp cloth to remove any residue. An abrasive cloth is not recommended for metal surfaces. If you have any questions or would like more furniture care tips, please reach out to us here. Beds need to be serviced annually to ensure all functions are working correctly. If you don’t have a qualified service agent, please contact us so that we can organise this for you.

If you are looking for information about use of your bed or furniture, we have manuals available here.

Avoid exposing furniture to direct heat sources (heaters, radiators) or placing hot objects directly on surfaces. Always use coasters, placemats or heat- resistant mats.
  • Never move heavy furniture by dragging — always lift to reposition. This helps avoid strain on joints and legs.
  • Rotate or re-arrange cushions and seating positions (when safe to do so) for upholstered furniture to encourage even wear and extend lifespan.
  • If in doubt about cleaning — for example, with stubborn stains or unknown materials — contact us or a professional upholstery/furniture care provider before using harsher cleaning methods.

For all fabric products, we recommend a schedule of regular cleaning be implemented. While many of the fabrics are antibacterial and antimicrobial, they still require regular cleaning to maintain longevity and cleanliness.

Fabric-Upholstered Products (Commercial & Waterproof Fabrics)

To ensure long life and preserve appearance of your fabric-upholstered furniture:

  • Check the individual cleaning instructions for the fabric you have chosen. Some fabrics can be bleach cleaned (1:10) and / or cleaned with Clinell wipes. It is very important that if the fabric is bleach cleaned or Clinell wipes used, that the furniture is then wiped over with a damp cloth, removing any residue or bleach or Clinell Cleaner.
Without doing this, the fabric can deteriorate. Not all fabrics can be cleaned with bleach.
  • Keep furniture out of direct sunlight and avoid damp or overly humid conditions.
  • Vacuum regularly using a soft brush attachment to lift dust and debris before it embeds in the fabric.
  • Address spills immediately: gently blot with a soft brush or sponge — do not rub vigorously.
  • For cleaning, use plain water, a mild soap solution, or upholstery shampoo.
  • Ensure all furniture dries properly after cleaning.
  • If you use a fabric-care product, always test it first in an inconspicuous area.

Vinyl-Upholstered Products – General Care Instructions.

Vinyl surfaces require their own care to stay durable and looking their best.

  • Check the individual cleaning instructions for the vinyl you have chosen. Some vinyls can be bleach cleaned (1:10) and / or cleaned with Clinell wipes. It is very important that if vinyl is bleach cleaned or Clinell wipes used, that the furniture is then wiped over with a damp cloth, removing any residue or bleach or Clinell Cleaner. Without doing this, the vinyl can deteriorate.
  • Protect vinyl furniture from damp conditions, direct sunlight, and proximity to heating units.
  • Clean spills promptly to prevent staining or damage. This can usually be done with a damp cloth.
  • Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with a mild solution of liquid detergent and warm water, then rinse with clean water and dry with a lint-free cloth.
  • Vacuum periodically to prevent dust build-up.
  • Do not use wax polishes, solvents, abrasive cleaners, ammonia, or bleach — these can degrade the vinyl. Please check the specific cleaning recommendations for the vinyl you have purchased.

For timber-finished furniture, proper care helps maintain the finish and structural integrity:

  • Keep timber furniture away from damp areas, direct sunlight and close proximity to heaters or radiators.
  • Use coasters, placemats or table mats under glasses, hot items or anywhere that might scratch the surface.
  • Clean and dry spills immediately.
  • Dust regularly using a soft cloth. For routine cleaning, a well-wrung damp cotton or microfiber cloth is best.
  • Avoid storing furniture in areas where temperature or humidity fluctuate widely — these conditions can cause timber to warp, crack or degrade over time.
  • Do not use harsh cleaning products, as this can affect the lacquer of the timber. A damp cloth is generally adequate for cleaning timber furniture.
